Coaching for Expats in A Dutch Working Environment

Recognize acknowledge and embrace cultural differences through coaching

What is Coaching for Expats in Dutch Working Environment?

This coaching has been developed for both Expats that have recently relocated to the Netherlands and for those who have already been here for some time.

During the coaching sessions we will focus on the following:

  • Dutch workplace cultural norms
  • The challenges of intercultural working environments
  • Dutch work-life balance
  • Understanding the apparent lack of hierarchy in the Dutch workplace
  • Dutch workplace lack of formality and Dutch directness
  • The Dutch polder model
  • How to survive a Dutch job interview

Working in a Dutch environment can be challenging for expats

Expats new to the Netherlands often find adapting to the written and unwritten rules of the Dutch workplace a challenge. Our coaching is designed to make expats aware of some of the things that are not always so obvious in the Dutch working environment.

Even if an expat is transferring within the same organization from another country, they are often surprised by the differences in workplace culture compared to that of their own country.

Why you should work with Facing the Change?

The founder of Facing the Change and lead coach was born in Peru, grew up in the Netherlands and has also worked for multinationals in France, Spain the UK and Qatar. She has also carried out several projects in India and Panama.

At Facing the Change we understand the challenges faced by expats when working in the Netherlands. While many organizations provide induction training for employees, these often don’t provide enough insight into the cultural norms of the Dutch workplace. We have supported many expats with adapting to the Dutch working culture and norms.

Our Approach

We start the process with a free intake meeting, the purpose of which is to learn about you, your situation and background and the type of challenges you might be facing in the Dutch workplace. We’ll then develop a coaching program tailor made for you, based on the information you provided. At the end of the coaching program you’ll be able to confidently interact with colleagues in the workplace and common cultural misunderstandings.

Sign up for a free Intake

I would like to suggest the following agenda:

  • Introduction
  • Snapshot of current situation
  • Explore the needs of the Coachee, including the expected outcome
  • Identify and agree on the goals the Coachee wants to achieve
  • Determine the plan of action

After this session, you will be provided with the intake notes and a proposal including the cost for the coaching program.

I also provide on line coaching using Skype for business and Free Skype.

Progress is measured and evaluated halfway and at the end of the program.

Being a good and professional communicator with strong people skills Flor knows how to manage …

You can move others with words, you can only move yourself with action.
